Answer: Some heaters only run at a certain wattage (ie 1600 watts) Others are variable wattage, allowing more/less heat from the unit. If the wattage is too small, the unit will keep heating the area (not safe), trying to reach the selected room temperature. -

Does this heater make any noises outside of the noise it makes while running? I’m talking about noises due to thermal expansion of the heating element
Answer: sometimes they will ping and click when they heat up. If they do its usually just a few then it stops. -

Replacing a Marley unit that looks similar but a mirror image with the motor on opposite side. Assuming the fan is installed on top. Will it work?
Answer: Fan is on the bottom per the pictures. Assuming the physical size fits the box, you may have to extend your wiring to reach the other side. I did that when switching from King to Cadet. -

When replacing a Z102 with this, why do I need to drop it to a 900w heater if it is a large room why can't it stay 1600w?

Answer: I did look at the Owner's Guide for this model and it mentioned nothing about the 'decibel rating' however, it has a quiet, 'white noise' sound when on any setting. You can call Cadet at 360-693-2505 or visit their website, cadetheat.com and inquire further. Hope that helps a bit! -

What are the actual dimensions? I want to be sure it will fit.
Answer: If you haven't found out yet, the Cadet RM162 unit measures: 11' (L) X 7' (H) X 4' (D). Have replaced several of them & they are relatively easy to replace. Be sure to turn off the power at the appropriate breaker 1st! Wear protective gloves as the unit's metal edges are quite sharp! Hope this helps! :)
