GEEKOM Minis AMD Ryzen 9 8945 Editorial Review
The GEEKOM A8 mini PC is receiving commendable feedback from users, particularly lauded for its performance as a compact desktop solution. Powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, the A8 shines in various scenarios ranging from everyday productivity tasks to light gaming and content creation. Reviewers highlighted its impressive CPU performance, noting that it Consistently outperforms similarly priced competitors, especially in sustained multithreaded workloads. While the integrated graphics capabilities are a step above typical offerings in similar devices, they do not compare to dedicated graphic cards; nonetheless, they deliver respectable performance for casual gaming and media playback, supporting up to 4K @ 60Hz. Users appreciate the effective power management demonstrating an idle draw of just 9W, which is a notable feature for power-Conscious buyers. The A8’s fan noise is managed reasonably well, being noticeable under load but not bothersome, making it suitable for both quiet home office settings and home theater applications. The array of ports, including multiple USB-C and HDMI options, adds to its versatility, although some users wished for additional USB 2.0 ports for peripherals. Users also appreciated the clean installation of Windows 11 Pro without bloatware, a nice touch for those looking for a straightforward, efficient setup. The inclusion of a VESA mount opens opportunities for mounting the device behind a monitor, contributing to a minimalist workspace. There were a few concerns noted, particularly regarding initial startup issues due to possible shipping-induced slight loosening of components, but users reported that these were easily resolved. Support from GEEKOM was deemed responsive, although some initial wait times were noted. Overall, the GEEKOM A8 is perceived as a valuable mini PC that combines solid performance with a compact design at an appealing price point. **
