It has a 2-inch opening, and the data cords that connect the photogates are 46 inches long. You can measure in milliseconds when the laser beam is broken and can also count depending on the selected setting. However, it doesn't measure the time it takes for a falling object to travel the last 1' through the photo gates set at the bottom of a tray.
